Preventing Slips and Falls In Trucking

(8 min.) Did you know that after traffic accidents, more people are killed in falls than any other kind of accident? Over 14,000 persons die each year from falls, both at home and on the job. Truck driving is often considered a dangerous business because of the countless traffic, road, and weather hazards. Yet, more drivers are hurt each year by slipping and falling from non-moving vehicles than by any other single cause. Slips and falls in and around vehicles account for as much as 25% of all driver injuries. One insurance study stated that one in every 9 truck driver injuries is a result of a slip or a fall from a non-moving vehicle and that those injuries account for 15% to 25 % of all trucking employee injuries.
