Wasps & Spiders

Wasps & Spiders (10 min.) Wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets should be treated just like bees. Wasps are enemies of bees, and are found near bees because they steal their honey. Wasps live in a variety of places; such as mud type hives on walls and ceilings or in small hives. The same basic first aid treatment is advised for wasp stings as bee stings, although wasps don't leave their stingers in your skin. Harmful reaction to a wasp sting can take place in persons who are allergic to these types of stings and venom. As described for bee allergic reaction, the same emergency treatment can be used, as well as routine treatment of a wasp sting. Wasps don't leave their stingers in the skin, so routine first aid treatment is generally the same as bee stings, without having to remove the stinger. Let's now take a look at spiders, specifically the black widow and the violin or brown recluse spider.

Topics included in this safety video are: first aid, black widow spider, brown recluse or violin spider, bees, wasps, and spiders.

Program comes with a CD-ROM of written materials, including test questions and answers. English title also includes PowerPoint presentation.
