Controlling Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens

Controlling Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens (25 min.) Although many workers have always been exposed to bloodborne and infectious diseases, treatment, and infection control prevented widespread incidences. The 80s brought new conditions that were spread in alarming proportions to personnel having other than direct contact with an exposed person. Last year, several thousand workers died from Hepatitis B. New methods of infection control were established to prevent the occupational spread of AIDS and Hepatitis B virus, both very serious diseases.

Topics included in this safety video are: bloodborne pathogens, AIDS, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, exposure control plan, engineering controls, personal hygiene, first aid emergencies, cleaning, sanitizing, Hepatitis B vaccine, post-exposure evaluation and follow-up programs, sharps containers and regulated waste, warning labels, good housekeeping, and hygiene.

Program comes with a CD-ROM of written materials, including test questions and answers. English title also includes PowerPoint presentation.
