General Safe Work Practices

(12 min.) There are some basic safe work practices that must be observed by everyone working on the job site. The objective of this safety program is to prevent injuries and to allow you to do your job efficiently and safely. All persons must follow these safe practices and render every possible aid to safe operations and be a part of the program by reporting all unsafe conditions or practices to your supervisor or superintendent. The vast majority of work-related injuries are the result of unsafe acts of workers.

Topics included in this safety video are: written safety counseling, safety rule enforcement, frequent accident prevention instructions or training, drugs or intoxicating substances, medication, unsafe behavior, impaired ability or alertness, confined spaces, machine guards and other protective devices, what to do if you are injured on the job, lifting, inappropriate footwear or shoes, housekeeping, handling chemicals or hazardous substances, ladders, welding, damaged tools or equipment, files, lockout-tagout procedures, and excavations.
