The New Lockout/Tagout Program

The New Lockout/Tagout Program (17 min.) One of the most effective devices for personal protection around moving machinery is a lockout and tagout program. When you hear the words lockout and tagout it means locking up the energy sources of a machine so it cannot be started. The tagout part of the term refers to placing a tag on a locked machine so everyone will be aware that a particular machine is under repair or maintenance.

Topics covered in this safety video include: ANSI's Z24412000-3, complying with the ANSI's 244.1 standards, safety administrators, documenting all energy sources, identifying each potential safety hazard associated with each machine, affected employees, authorized employees, the importance relating to attempts to restart or re-energize machines or equipment which are locked out or tagged out, energy sources, normal production operations, servicing or maintenance, lubricating, cleaning, unjamming, and making minor adjustments and simple tool changes, release of hazardous energy, orderly shutdown, isolation of the machine or equipment, lockout or tagout device application, inspection of the work area, who can remove a lock or tag from an energy isolating device, one exception to this rule, when servicing and/or maintenance is performed on machinery or equipment by multiple authorized personnel, and retraining.

Program comes with a CD-ROM of written materials, including test questions and answers. English title also includes PowerPoint presentation.
