Advanced Hand & Power Tool Safety

Advanced Hand & Power Tool Safety (21 min.) The key thing to remember is that although tools are extremely useful they can also be dangerous if not used correctly. Organizations such as Underwriters Laboratories, Consumer Product Safety Commission, OSHA, and ANSI have made major strides in evaluating and testing tools in an effort to make using tools safer.

Topics included in this safety video are: basic rules, only use a tool for its intended purpose, monitor your tools to make sure that they are in good condition, prolong the life of your tools, cheater bars, never hold small work in your hand when using a sharp tool, never use hammers that have broken claws and be sure to check to see if the handle is tight and not loose, cutting tools should be kept sharp, using a file (be aware of its tang which is sharp), using knives or shears or other cutting tools (always cut in a direction away from your body), working from elevated areas or locations - pay extra attention to your surroundings and use extra caution to prevent tools from falling from scaffolds, ladders, or any elevated environment, always tie off the container holding your work tools. never carry tools in your hand or pocket when climbing, never toss tools up to a co-worker that are elevated or have them toss you down tools from an elevation, avoid using power tools in wet environments, ground fault circuit interrupter, double insulated, circular saws, jig saws and plunge cutters, routers, power drills, power impact tools, and rotary die grinders.

Program comes with a CD-ROM of written materials, including test questions and answers. English title also includes PowerPoint presentation.
